Maybe a better translation is: The steps of the the strong one (the man of faith) are from Yahvé, but how could a mere man (adam – a man separated of Yahvé) found his way? I think this verse expresses in a few words the theme of Romans 7-8. Man alone has good intentions but can not replace the lack of God in his life so he becomes the slave of the sin, but when the man is in Christ guided by the Spirit of God, he is a son of God and is able to do everything he wants.
