The noun elpis, in this verse is not a perfect synonym of the english noun “hope”, but has a stronger context, it means certainty or even warranty. Christ in us, that makes us now partakers of His joy and of His suffering is at the same time the warranty of the fact that we will be then made partakers of His glory.
