Gideon means: “having a stump for a hand”. Maybe this man was born disabled, lacking part of an arm. However, when God is with a person He completes that person’s lacks and weaknesses, and makes him or her a complete personality. That’s why God was calling Gideon with the name Gibbor Hehayil, “mighty warrior”. We have to remember that our powerlessness and lack make us aware that we need help. So this is the occasion of God if we trust Him, because His power becomes perfect in our powerlessness (2 Cor 12:9). So we don’t have to be afraid to recognise that we don’t know, that we don’t have, that we are not or that we cannot do something, because this is our possibility to trust Him and to became complete together with Him. If God is with you He will change your name into a superior name and He will make you the “head and not the tail” (Dt 28:13). The condition is that you consecrate yourself to Him and accept to live in harmony with Him, that is to decide everything taking in account His will. This is the key of real success.
