Knowing a person, in Bible culture, means to be friends with that person. God desires us to be friends with Him and considering that He is our Lord and God, being friends with Him means to do what He command us to do. (Lc 15:14), and what He command us to do is to love one another and to love our neighbor as He loves us, that is with mercy and kindness.
