Jesus said that one will be able to be His disciple only if he denies himself, take his cross and follow Him. Then He illustrated this teaching by the parable of the sower. One can be a real disciple of Jesus, that is to bring fruit for Him only if he opens his ear and his heart and receives the Word of God and if he abandons himself, that is his fears (the stones) and his pleasures (the thorns) in a manner that the Word of God will be the fulfiller in all his thoughts, words, and acts (root, plant and fruits).
