Jesus said to them who saw Him, and asked Him to show us the Father. Generally the superficial readers of the Bible consider that the Father is revealed in the Old Testament and the Son is revealed in the New Testament, that the Father has righteousness and judgement and the Son has kindness and love. Intentionally the readers minimize the moments when Jesus curses a fig tree, expels the merchants from the sanctuary with a whip and repeatedly and affirms that some will be thrown out where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth or that they will receive the punishment of Gehenna, which is worse than the punishments of the Law of Moses. More than this, the reality is that the Son of God is the God of all the Bible revelation, including the Old Testament, as the apostle Paul said, the Rock that accompanied them in the wilderness was not the Father, but Christ Himself, that is the Son (1 Cor 10:4). In fact not even Moses saw the Father, only the Son and He made Him known, even on the Mont Sinai: “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known” (John 1:18). So the Father, from the beginning has revealed Himself by the Son, and God (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, that are One John 10:30: 2 Cor 3:17), is always the same (Ps 102:27; Heb 1:12; 13:8).
Amen…..those who are thumbing their noses at God are completely unaware of (or do not care about) His coming wrath. God is longsuffering as we currently enjoy an Age of Grace. No, Jesus did not mince words. As we read in Hebrews 4 the Word is “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Jesus IS the Word.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
Jesus Christ may have come quietly as the Lamb of God, but He is returning as the Lion of Judah.
