The meaning of the concept of “grace” in essence, is that God is favorable to you. In fact, the real blessing is that God looks to you smiling and approving, that His face expresses favor to you (Numbers 6:23-27). Why? Because that means that He is with, sustains and defends you. The question is if God is really favorable to me. His eyes are searching the whole earth to find the people that give their entire heart to Him, to be favorable to them and to sustain them (2 Chr. 16:9). If God is with us nobody and nothing can touch us without His permission and everything is a blessing. But this huge favor has a cost. God doesn’t want something from us, but He wants us entirely, He is a jealous God. He is like a man that wants neither a prostitute that offers him pleasure for money, nor a concubine that stays with Him with reserve, but a wife that enters with Him in an exclusive relation (Ex 20:5-6). This is the saving faith in God and, practically, Rom 8:31 is not about everyone, but about this kind of people.
