  1. My free translation is this: “God, create me a clean heart and renew inside me a stable spirit!”
I’m not sure if David vas thinking that the heart is in the thorax and the spirit in the abdomen, but this in the language. With the expression: “inside me”, I translated a phrase that means literately “in my viscera”. Or maybe all the inner part of the man was considered the heart and the viscera was the content of the heart. In this case the psalmist asks God to recreate him inside as a new clean person full of a new and stable spirit. However, in simple words David recognized that he cannot live a heavenly righteous life as a carnal man, but he needs to be born from above as a son of God, “ 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born from above (anoten means “ from above”, that is from God), John 3:6, compare with John 1:12. Paul said: “ Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” 1 Cor 15:50 But before receiving a new body, a heavenly one, we need a heavenly heart full of the heavenly Spirit.
