I verified in the hebrew text and the idea is that the bigger giver of light, the sun, will dominate the day and the smaller one will dominate the night and the stars, that is the moon will be a bigger light in the night than the stars. It is not written that God made the stars in the third day. It is only an interpretation of the translators. God made the heavens and the earth before the seven days of the creation and many stars existed yet before the seven days creation week,
